Most employability programs focus on information. JobSquad focuses on participation.

JobSquadders don’t spend the day sitting through presentations or generic career advice sessions.

They actively:

  • connect
  • communicate
  • network
  • solve challenges
  • practise employability skills
  • build confidence
  • and take real-world action

Because confidence grows after taking action, not just by listening.

JobSquad helps reduce the fear and intimidation many students associate with employability programs and networking experiences, and makes finding a job in a day Mission:POSSIBLE!

The result is higher engagement, stronger participation and more confident students.

Behind the JobSquad experience

Confidence is built through momentum

JobSquad is intentionally designed to reduce fear, increase participation and build confidence progressively throughout the day.

Activities are psychologically sequenced to:

  • lower social pressure
  • increase psychological safety
  • support hesitant students
  • encourage participation
  • reduce employability anxiety
  • and build confidence through action

This is especially important for students who are least likely to put themselves forward in traditional employability settings, and helps fuel  more equitable workplaces as students are seen for who they are, not just how they present on paper.

Rather than expecting students to arrive confident, JobSquad helps them become confident through the experience itself.

Casual Employment Activation

Supports students seeking:

  • first jobs
  • casual employment
  • local experience
  • workplace confidence
  • customer interaction skills

Employer and industry involvement significantly increases engagement, confidence and employment outcomes, for everyone.

This version is especially valuable for:

  • international students
  • first-time job seekers
  • students lacking local work experience
  • students nervous about entering the workforce

Professional Employment Activation

Supports students preparing for:

  • internships
  • graduate opportunities
  • professional networking
  • career confidence

Students practise real-world professional interaction in ways that feel engaging, supportive and achievable.

Add-on engagement boosters

Pre-event networking experiences

Optional low-pressure ‘learn the hidden rules of networking while you’re at a networking event’ experiences held prior to JobSquad help students feel more comfortable, connected and confident before the main activation, significantly increasing attendance, participation and engagement.

At a recent Study Canberra activation, 70% of JobSquadders attended the networking event the evening before (and most were the first to arrive at JobSquad the following morning).

Sometimes confidence starts with simply knowing someone else in the room.

Student communication support

Student Confidence can manage communication directly with registered students prior to the event. In fact we experienced a 60% increase in attendance with the combination of our targeted comms campaign plus pre-JobSquad networking event, than when neither were present.

This helps:

  • reduce provider workload
  • increase attendance
  • build engagement before the day
  • reduce uncertainty and build excitement
  • and support stronger participation outcomes

Because communication and confidence-building start long before students walk through the door.

Real-world connection creates real-world confidence

Industry and employer participation significantly boosts student engagement, confidence and employability outcomes, and solidifies industry partnerships. At JobSquad for Study Toowoomba, one local employer was so impressed with the participants’ confidence, she offered 6 jobs – on the spot!

Students gain:

  • real-world exposure
  • networking experience
  • confidence speaking with employers
  • workplace communication practice
  • and clearer pathways into employment opportunities

For many students, JobSquad becomes the first time employability feels approachable instead of intimidating.
